Defense Solid, Offense Not as Chiefs Falls 20-10

The Chiefs’ defense forced three turnovers, but three blunders in the fourth-quarter proved fatal for Kansas City yesterday.  The NFC champion Bears beat the Chiefs 20-10 at Soldier Field.  Damon Huard completed 19-of-28 passes for 175 yards, with a touchdown and a pick.  Larry Johnson rushed for only 55 yards on 16 carries.  Jeff Webb [...]

New Chiefs Kicker Looks Ready, Edwards Says

Going into this weekend’s contest between the Chiefs and the Bears at Soldier Field, both teams have an incentive to play hard.  Because both teams lost their season openers, and neither wants to go into it at 0-and-2.  The Chiefs’ head coach, Herm Edwards, watched his new kicker — Dave Rayner — at practice yesterday.  Edwards [...]

Sippio Comes Up From Practice Squad

Eddie Kennison is out with a hamstring injury this week.  Moving in to the wide receiver’s uniform will be Bobby Sippio, who’s been called-up from the practice squad.  Sippio impressed a lot of folks during his time with the Arena League.  Herm Edwards says Sippio will play Sunday in Chicago, where the Chiefs will be [...]

Report: Medlock Out, Rayner In as Cheifs Kicker

Justin Medlock’s days as the Chiefs’ kicker appear to be over.  There are reports that Medlock was released yesterday, one-day after missing his first real kick in the NFL.  Medlock missed a 30-yarder field goal attempt, wide left, nipping the Chiefs’ opening drive right in the bud.  They went on to commit four turnovers and [...]

Chiefs Offense Asleep Again in 20-3 Loss to Texans

The Chiefs’ season, so far, is going much the same way as the preseason.  In Houston yesterday, it was mistake-after-mistake from the first drive as Kansas City lost 20-3.  Justin Medlock turned it over four times and dropped a few, even missing a 30-yard chip shot.  Damon Huard was picked off twice.  Chris Wilson was [...]
