Long Time Vet Kicker Carney Replaces Rayner

The 7-and-4 Chiefs say their kicking game has been sorely lacking, so they’ve decided to give Dave Rayner the boot.  Kicker number-three will be free-agent place kicker John Carney.  The 43-year-old, 20-year vet is one of the ten most-accurate kickers of all time.  Coach Herm Edwards put the whole thing into golf terms yesterday.  He says it’s a par-three.  Some of the stronger guys hit wedges, and once in a while, knock it over the green.  Rayner, says Edwards, may not be a big, strong guy, but he’s got a nine-iron and he hits it nearly every time.
