Ex-Chief Becomes Falcons Interim Coach

Former Chief Emmitt Thomas is now the interim head coach for the Atlanta Falcons, where he’s been an assistant since 2002. Thomas holds the Chiefs’ interception record, and is number-nine all-time in pro football. He played in Kansas City from 1966 to ‘78. Thomas is jumping into the position that opened up Tuesday, when Bobby Petrino abruptly resigned in favor of a position at Arkansas. Petrino had only coached 13 games in the NFL. His former players and the Falcons’ management say they feel betrayed and let down.
