Change Coming as Chiefs Fire Four Assistants

Posted by Matt Loede on January 2nd, 2008 filed in News

Vowing to make changes and get back to form in 2008, the Chiefs on Wednesday started that process with firing four assistants, including offensive coordinator Mike Solari.  The Chiefs were flat out bad on offense, scoring just 226 points and putting up just 276.8 yards per game, which was ranked next to last only to the awful 49′ers offense.  Also fired on Wednesday were offensive line coach John Matsko, receivers coach Charlie Joiner and running backs coach James Saxon.

Solari joined the Chiefs as the offensive line coach in 1997, a job he held under three coaches until Herm Edwards promoted him to offensive coordinator in 2006.  Joiner was with the team since 2001, and Saxon was with the Rams before he left there to join Edwards when he took over in 2006.  No word yet on any names that might be coming aboard to take the place of those fired.
