Four More Veteran Chiefs Being Shown the Door

The youth movement with the Chiefs continued today, as they informed four vets they would be released.  Among them are   corner Ty Law, linebacker Kendrell Bell, defensive tackle James Reed, and tight end Jason Dunn.  The first three players were all starters last season for the Chiefs.  Law spent the last two seasons with the team, recording 6 picks in 32 games.  He also had 115 tackles.  Bell was a big free agent signing from the Steelers back in 2005, but never had the type of impact he had as the one-time defensive rookie of the year.  His best season with the Chiefs was 2006, when he had 49 tackles.

Reed was a starter on the D-line, but last season was hurt, playing in just four games making three tackles.  He joined the Chiefs in 2006 and played in 15 games.  He had 27 tackles.  Dunn as a reserve TE, caught two passes last season, and had been with the Chiefs for the past eight seasons.  Team President Carl Peterson spoke this past weekend at the combine of making plenty of roster changes, and you can bet that making these moves is just the tip of the iceberg on what the team will look to do come free agency and the draft.

The one problem with the KC Chiefs, is the same problem with the KC Royals. They don’t recognize talent when they have it. They want to start with young healthy players, build them up, make them worth a trade or dollar amount, and them pawn them off to another team that usually ends up winning the Super Bowl or World Series! Note to Clark Hunt: Don’t be like Carl and your Dad! Go for the win for once!(getting rid of Ty Law was the worst decision anyone has ever made in KC)
