Chiefs on the Verge of Releasing Wesley; Broncos Standing By
Posted by Matt Loede on May 14th, 2008 filed in NewsReports from the KC Star is that the team is looking to release longtime, veteran safety Greg Wesley. No doubt that the Chiefs are still looking at rebuilding and getting younger, and Wesley has been working hard for over a year to get hi release from the team. The Broncos have been trying to start trade talks with the Chiefs to get the services of Wesley, offering a fourth-round pick the first time around, and the second time around the Chiefs asking for a young Broncos CB, which the team was not willing to give up. It will be tough for the Broncos to get Wesley from their rivals, as they don’t want to do a deal within the division.

THEY SHOULD HAVE RELEASED HIM LAST YEAR HE’S NOT A GOOD SAFETY, ALWAYS GETTING BURNED, THATS WHY HE LOST HIS STARTING JOB

If you are just going to release him, then why not get a draft pick. He is going to end up in the same division anyways, so stupid King Carl should have taken a draft pick.

Wesley may get burned sometimes but, he is one of the hardest hitting DBs in football. wideout might be able to get away from him but, if he’s anywhere close they will think twice about catching the football. Id sure hate to play against him twice a year

True, Wesley is a hard hitter, but speed kills in football and Greg has no speed to speak of. If the Chiefs are going to get a draft pick for someone who is going to start somewhere else right away they better get at least a pick in the 3rd round. He is due 2.8 million this season and has one more year on his contract which will be 3.3 next year, and he saw a significant drop in PT last year. Not to mention DaJuan Morgan was a steal at pick 82.
