I agree with Ucrawford....yeah he isn't worth the money we be given him but cutting him doesn't help either....if he really can't play then Carr and Flowers step in and we have a rough year but we get better because of it....Surtain can play Nickel or dime and then we cut him....its like the kendrell bell situation you hold on to him til you can let him go with out it hruting you...

You need to ask yourself what the cap hit would be next season if we cut Surtain this season. He's got more than just this year left on his contract, so any guaranteed money he was paid on years he hasn't played rolls over next year and is applied as a cap penalty (e.g. 3 years left at $4 million per year equals a $12 million cap hit next season).

There's not really a downside to keeping him around this season, even if he isn't good. The Chiefs aren't going to the Super Bowl this year so it's not like he's holind back a championship team. We've got young cornerbacks who will get the playing time anyway so he can ride the bench or play in nickel or dime formations and act as a mentor if he can't contribute on-field. We're already below the salary cap, so we don't need the roster space at this point unless an absolutely great (and expensive) player for us pops loose somehow. Might as well keep Surtain around.
