The battle for the Governor?s Cup is set to commence, the final tune up before the regular season kicks off against New England. The Chiefs will be looking to even up their preseason record to 2-2 and end the preseason on a high note after their poor showing in Miami. It has been a crazy week at Arrowhead four players released one put on the physically unable to perform list and kicker Jay Feely was signed and released one day after. The Feely move is the only puzzling move , you know what Feely is he is a veteran his tape speaks for itself why bring him in and cut him especially when he is coming off his best season?

Two days after the Rams game the Chiefs will have to release 22 players. The second half should be pretty entertaining as some players will be playing their hearts out trying to make the squad. Expect the starters to play just the first two or three series of the game. The Chiefs should get draft choices Brad Cottam and Jamal Charles back this week this should help the sputtering offense. While Herm would not say he would play this week he did confirm Brandon Albert will dress. Dontrell Savage had to be the happiest player at One Arrowhead Dr. when he heard the news sixth round draft pick Kevin Robinson was moved to the PUP list. Robinson plays receiver but was drafted exclusively to be the kick returner. This all but assures Dontrell as spot on the roster as the kick returner.

What the Chiefs need to get out of this game is two scoring drives from the starting offense. Even if they are field goals Brodie needs to move the ball and get the Chiefs on the board. The starting defense needs to find it?s pass rusher. We have heard it will be Derrick Johnson?s season to get after the quarterback then Demario Williams was practicing as a pass rushing down lineman in nickel situations, but Williams broke his hand and has been out of practice. Turk McBride has shown flashes but has also disappeared at times in games.

The battle for the fifth spot at receiver will be decided during this game Maurice Price has distanced himself from Bobby Sippio over the last couple of games. Sippio could still win the spot but it would take a big, big game. Also the spot for the fourth and fifth cornerback should be a interesting watch. The battle will come down to Maurice Leggit, Dimitri Paterson, Rashard Barksdale and Tyron Brackenridge. The kicker battle will also come to a conclusion after the game. I will say this has been the most wacky kicker battle I have ever seen.
