In a rematch of the 1993 AFC championship game the Buffalo Bills will travel to Kansas City to take on the Chiefs, who have been competitive the past four weeks but have been unable to make plays down the stretch extending their losing streak to six games. The Bills bring a four games losing streak of their own to Arrowhead as they lost last week to the Browns on a missed field goal late in the game.

The Bills at 5-5 and last place in their division now find their team in a must win situation if they want to have any shot at the playoffs . If a playoff run is to be had by the Bills who started out hot at 5-1, QB Trent Edwards will have to find away to turn his season around .

The past two weeks the Chiefs have not gave up as many yards rushing but have faced two teams in Tampa Bay and New Orleans who would prefer to pass the ball across the field as appose to running a smash mouth style of offense. This week the Bills will try to establish a running game since QB Trent Edwards has struggled as of late and Marshawn Lynch had his first 100 yard game of the season last week. Combined with 2nd year pro Fred Jackson they make a formidable 1-2 punch.

The Chiefs will get some ammo back this week to stop the run LB Derrick Johnson and CB Brandon Flowers will make their returns this week but linebackers Pat Thomas and Donnie Edwards will be out and be replaced in the line up by Demarrio Williams and Rocky Boiman.

Chiefs Head Coach Herm Edwards acknowledged that losing can be come a habit if the Chiefs young players can not find a way to break thru and pull out a victory in one of these close games. The Bills maybe the Chiefs best shot at victory besides the Raiders game on the schedule till the Chiefs travel to the Bengals the last week of the season. Tyler Thigpen probably would have had a good game against a middle of the pack Bills pass defense without any injuries, but the Bills will be without starting defensive backs Donte Whitner, Jabari Greer and top pass rusher Aaron Schobel. This game may come down to turnovers the Chiefs are + 9 in turnover margin and the Bills are at -10. The Bills have absolutely no positive momentum going and are reeling right now if the Chiefs are going to learn how to win this may be the game.

Keys to the Game

Win the special teams battle: The Bills have two electrifying young kick returners in Roscoe Parrish and Leodis McKelvin, last week the Browns kicked to McKelvin and got burned for a 98 yard return in the 4th quarter. This will be a interesting match up as the Chiefs coverage unit has given up big kick returns at inopportune times giving up good field position and leaving their defense exposed. The Chiefs will be looking to bring some electricity to their kick return game as well as they have promoted rookie Kevin Robinson this week to full time kick returner after his nice performance last week and waiving former kick returner Dontrell Savage.

Tyler Thigpen needs to refuse to lose: Tyler Thigpen has played better than any other QB the past four weeks besides Peyton Manning and Kurt Warner that is pretty good company, but Thigpen for all of the stats he has put up he has not found a way to win. That is the last knock on him he has to over come to become the franchise QB the Chiefs so desperately need. All of the great QB?S find a way to make their win Thigpen has had his opportunities in these close games and came up short, he will have no excuse this week he should be able to pick the Bills apart without their top pass rusher and starting safety. Thigpen has been the difference in the Chiefs improved play but he needs to complete his maturation this week and get one in the W column.

Don?t let Buffalo get healthy: The Bills will be looking to get healthy against the Chiefs, in the middle of a four game losing skid while still trying to make the playoffs the Bills will look at this game as a chance to turn their season around. The Chiefs already know how dangerous teams with their back against the wall can be they need to come out of the gate hot and keep Buffalo?s spirits low, the next step in the growing process for this young team is being able to sniff out a wounded team and go for the kill.

Final Score: Chiefs 27 Bills 21

The Chiefs have a golden opportunity for a win here and coach Herm Edwards has to start accumilating some victories if he is going to show improvement from last season. The Bills are the more talented and desperate team but the Chiefs have momentum on their side and are showing improvement every week. With a solid effort from Larry Johnson and another repeat performance from Thigpen the Chiefs will be too much for the wounded Bills defense.
