Brodie Croyle, Larry Johnson, Pat Surtain, Pat Thomas, Donnie Edwards, Turk McBride, all of these players have one thing in common….. They were all opening day starters and they have all been put on the IR or missed significant chunks of the season. Their backups Damon Huard, Kolby Smith and Brian Johnston have also found their way to the IR.

The Chiefs have went thru a revolving door at the bottom of the depth chart amassing a total of 71 player that have been placed on the active roster, credit Ray Farmer Director of Player Personnel pickings are slim on the free agent once the regular season starts. But out of the 18 “Off the street free agents” the Chiefs have signed they may have found three players who could become long term starters or at least provide quality depth.

Mark Bradley
: 2005 2nd round draft choice and labeled a bust in Chicago, Bradley was signed by Kansas City on October 1st and started to produce immediately. Bradley looks every bit like the perfect compliment to D-Bowe and has done nothing but make plays since he was signed and combined with QB Tyler Thigpen has added a spark to the Chiefs offense that looks night and day different than the team the played the played he Patriots week one.

Rocky Boiman: 7 year pro out of Notre Dame and career journey man has made stops in Tennessee, Dallas, Indianapolis and Philadelphia. Signed by the Chiefs on October 15th and has seen almost immediate playing time. Boiman has brought a flavor of intensity the Chiefs have lacked all season and while he has not played well enough to be considered a long term solution he would provide quality depth.

Jason Babin: Signed on November 12th after being released by Seattle earlier in the season. Babin is a former first round pick of the 2004 NFL Draft and has 13 career sacks but has saw very little playing time since his first two years in the league. The Chiefs are desperate for anybody who can bring some sort of a pass rush if Babin can revive his career in Kansas City and get to the QB he will be looked at as a hero.
