Rudy Niswanger RFA : Extremely cerebral player, graduated LSU with a 4.0 and was accepted into LSU medical school also in 2005 Niswanger won the Draddy award as the nations best student athlete. Niswanger signed with the Chiefs in 2006 as a un drafted free agent and slowly worked his way into the lineup until he busted through to start 15 contest in 2008. At 6”5 Niswanger sometimes struggles to get a low enough center of gravity to deal with the upper echelon nose tackles in the NFL, a move to guard where Niswanger has played before may do his career some good. Scott Pioli is always talking about signing “smart players” Niswanger is about as smart as they come.

Jarrad Page RFA : Ball hawking young safety with at least three interceptions in each of his first three seasons. In 2008 Page set career highs in interceptions with four, tackles with 85 and also forced two fumbles. Page has came a long way from being a seventh round draft choice who had to decide between playing minor league baseball for the Cubs or going to training camp with the Chiefs. It is hard to imagine a scenario in which Scott Pioli would not identify Page as a young ascending player and retains his rights for 2009 and beyond.

Chances of return: 95%

Jeff Webb W RFA : After setting career high’s in 2007 with 28 catches for 313 yards, Webb completely fell off of the map in 2008 registering only 5 catches for 46 yards. Throughout his career Webb has been beaten out of a starting job by Sammie Parker, Devard Darling and Mark Bradley. With the Chiefs having four receivers already under contract for 2009 and Webb unable to establish himself in Kansas City, Webb may have to find another team to latch on with if he hopes to prove himself as a legitimate NFL receiver.
