7 Round Chiefs Mock Draft 2.0

The last mock draft before the conclusion of the scouting combine which is currently underway and concludes February 24 th . The Chiefs are switching to a 3-4 defense and do not have all the parts necessary to make the transition which is reflected heavily in this mock draft.

Round 1 Pick # 3: Eugene Monroe T Virginia

Needing to address the O-line the Chiefs will be faced with a tough decision choosing between Andre Smith, Michael Oher and Monroe. In the end the Chiefs choose a Virginia tackle in the first round for the second consecutive season.

Round 2 Pick # 2: Alex Mack C California

Mack has first round potential but a ankle injury will keep him from participating in the drills at the combine, with teams unable to compare his measurables to other players in the combine Mack’s stock could fall and the Chiefs would reap the benefits..

Round 3 Pick # 3: Larry English ILB Northern Illinois

Don’t expect Larry English to be looked at as a third round prospect much longer. No player is shooting up teams draft boards quicker and if he impresses at the combine he could easily slide into the second round but for now the Chiefs add a important piece to their 3-4 defense.

Round 4 Pick # 2: Mitch King DE/OLB Iowa

King is a bit of a tweener which makes him a classic 3-4 outside linebacker. The Chiefs have no talent or depth in their line backing corps besides Derrick Johnson , King will be a instant upgrade at the position. The only knock on King is a highlight reel of cheap shots on

Round 5 Pick # 3: Sammie Lee Hill DT Stillman

Glenn Dorsey is not a true 3-4 nose tackle neither is Tank Tyler at some point in the draft the Chiefs will need to address nose tackle. At 6-4 331 Hill looks every bit of a 3-4 nose tackle, he won’t be the starter day one but provides quality depth in the fifth round.

Round 6 Pick # 2: Jamie Thomas G Maryland

The run on offensive lineman continues into the sixth round. Thomas is a underrated player who will provide depth but in the sixth round he will not be player who will replace Adrian Jones the Chiefs will need to address guard on the free agent market.

Round 7 Pick # 3: Chase Daniels QB Missouri

Going into the 2008 season Daniels was a candidate to win the Heisman but Missouri finished with a 5-3 conference record and Daniels fell out of contention. Daniels is considered too short to play the position in the NFL but he will sell preseason tickets.
