Pro Football Weekly reports that the Chiefs have come to terms with third round pick DL Alex Magee:
The Chiefs have signed DL Alex Magee, their third-round pick in the 2009 draft, to a four-year contract, according to the Kansas City Star.
Magee played both tackle and end during his collegiate career at Purdue. Starting 11-of-12 games at end as a senior, he recorded 28 tackles (six for loss), 3½ sacks and one forced fumble. The 67th overall selection in April, Magee possesses terrific size and athletic ability, and he can chase down ballcarriers and make solid tackles.
A versatile prospect, Magee is expected to line up at D-end in the Chiefs’ 3-4 scheme. He’s initially expected to back up DE Glenn Dorsey, but he could see his role expand if Dorsey struggles to pick up his new position.
The Star also reports that the Chiefs are close to deals with with two other rookies, fourth-round CB Donald Washington and sixth-round WR Quinten Lawrence. Once that pair is signed, first-round DE Tyson Jackson will be the team’s only unsigned draft choice.
