Boasting a record of 3-11 and having lost to some of the worst teams in the NFL in what has been one of the most miserable seasons in Chiefs history the Chiefs look to put a close to this chapter of their history against the Bengals on Sunday followed by a road trip to Denver. This game will of course will be the first meeting between L.J. and the Chiefs since his release and even though you know he wants nothing more than to run for 200 yards and three TD’s L.J. has been saying all the right things. “It will be kind of like me practicing against my friends,” “A lot of those guys I haven’t seen in six or seven weeks. It will be great to get out there and play for real. When we were in camp, we did a couple of live goal-lines and stuff like that. It will just be great to bang around against those guys once again and get our shared memories. It will be fun for me to see those guys again.” But L.J. is probably saying all the right things because his team is heading to the playoffs while the Chiefs are heading to their third straight losing season. Even if L.J. doesn’t get the ball all day he is probably laughing a little bit on the inside.
Keys to the Game
1. Win the time of possesion: The Chiefs will need Jamaal Charles to have another big day, there is no way the Chiefs can compete with the Bengals if they have a bunch of three and outs and keep giving the ball back to the potent Bengals offense. The Chiefs will have to play a good old fashioned game of keep away. The Bengals cannot score if they do not have the ball and as long as Charles is running for first downs the Chiefs will be in a good position to keep it competitive.
2. Prevent the big play: It has been this defense’s Achilles heel all season , they keep the score respectable then they let the opposing team rip off two or three big plays and the score gets out of hand. The Bengals have the best offense the Chiefs have seen since the Chargers and there are players on this defense that are playing for their jobs if any of those players want their job back next year step one would be bottling up this dynamic offense.
3. Win the turnover battle: The Chiefs are playing from a disadvantage out of the gate the Bengals are a far superior team the last thing the Chiefs can afford to do is give the Bengals offense a short field to work with or extra shots at the end zone via turnovers. Not only can the Chiefs not turn the ball over they will have to find away to take the ball away from Carson palmer and the Bengals………. Not a easy task to be sure.

It’s very simple the Chiefs just want this miserable season to be over while the Bengals are steam rolling towards the playoffs and while they may have their division basically locked up there will be no let up from these Bengals as they are sure to be playing inspired football after the passing of teammate Chris Henry.
