ESPN reports that rookie CB Javier Arenas is looking like the guy that could end up winning the teams return duties:
Chiefs rookie cornerback Javier Arenas returned both punts and kickoffs in Friday’s preseason opener against the Falcons. Arenas also made three tackles as a defensive back, but he really opened some eyes on special teams, averaging 28.3 yards on three kickoff returns. His most impressive moment was a 100-yard kickoff return touchdown that was called back due to a holding penalty pretty far away from the ball. Wide receiver Terrance Copper was the only other player who lined up as a returner for Kansas City in the game, so Arenas seems to have an early leg up on both jobs and certainly did nothing to lose that edge with his performance.
