Vrabel to be Back in 2011 Due to Locker Room Leadership

Adam Teicher of the KC Star has a post up about the future of Mike Vrabel when it comes to being a Chief. He says he does feel he will be with the team in 2011, but that it’s only due to his veteran leadership in the locker room at age 36.

As for Vrabel, he will be 36 this summer and has no contract for 2011. Previously, I posted right here his thoughts on returning to play another season. That comment came before his recent arrest in Indiana for theft, but the arrest and its aftermath shouldn’t be much of a factor in his decision.

The Chiefs have Houston, Andy Studebaker and Cameron Sheffield at outside linebacker with Tamba Hali as their franchise player, assuming that designation holds up whenever the NFL resumes its business. So even though it’s getting crowded at those positions, I suspect Vrabel will have a spot on the roster as long as he wants one because of his leadership ability.
