How to Help Out the Tornado Victims in Joplin and Reading

The Chiefs have been active in helping those in need after the tragic tornadoes that hit Joplin and Reading this past week. Here’s an email that was sent out today stating how you as fans can help as well.

In response to the tragic tornadoes that touched down in Joplin, Mo. and Reading, Kan. this weekend, the Kansas City Chiefs have contributed $35,000 to disaster-relief efforts. As a valued member of the Chiefs family, we want to let you know how you can join us in aiding the people affected by these hardships.

Teaming with the Salvation Army – Midland Division and Heart-to-Heart International, the Chiefs are holding a bottled-water drive at Arrowhead Stadium today and tomorrow in an effort to assist those affected by the disasters.

Bottled-water donations will be accepted in Lot C on the east side of Arrowhead Stadium today, Tuesday, May 24 from noon until 7 p.m. and Wednesday, May 25 from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. Those wishing to provide donations of bottled water may use any entrance to the Sports Complex and proceed to Lot C for drop off.

All bottled-water donations will be distributed by the Salvation Army at their four mobile feeding kitchens stationed in Joplin. Chiefs executives, Cheerleaders, Red Coaters and Ambassadors will help collect donations throughout both days.

Cash donations and checks will also be accepted in Lot C during the above times, with the donated funds being used to assist in the recovery efforts in Joplin and Reading. Checks must be made payable to Heart-to-Heart International.

“The Chiefs Kingdom has been greatly affected by the tornadoes in Joplin and Reading. Our hearts and prayers go out to the people affected by these disasters,” Chiefs President Mark Donovan said. “We were informed that bottled water is the most pressing need at this point. Our hope is that our efforts will assist in meeting the immediate needs of those impacted. Our entire organization stands ready to help in the days and months ahead.”

Thank you in advance for your effort and support in helping those affected by these tornadoes.
