Haley Another NFL Coach to Distance Himself From Coaches Brief

Chiefs coach Todd Haley is the latest coach to distance himself and his staff from the brief filed by the NFL coaches association expressing support for the players in their labor fight with NFL owners.

“In talking to all of our guys, there was a great deal of surprise this was filed on their behalf,” Haley told Adam Teicher of the Kansas City Star. “Nobody was aware that it was going to happen. This was not on behalf of the coaches.”

“Whoever handles this situation the best once we get back to football — which I’m counting on — will have an advantage,” Haley said. “We’ve got to be one of those teams. That’s been our focus. We really haven’t been caught up in anything else. Whether that’s hard or easy for some guys, that’s what I’ve tried to keep pushing. We need to do our best job of coaching this year in this situation.

“We’ve got a great group of coaches, and I feel like we’ve done a good job in getting ready for all scenarios. When the whistle blows, we’ve got to be ready to go.”
