Chiefs release OT Jared Gaither

The Kansas City Chiefs have placed offensive tackle Jared Gaither on waivers, Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk.com reports.

Gaither appeared in 10 games in a reserve role for the Chiefs this season. During Sunday night’s 13-9 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, Gaither replaced an injured Branden Albert at left tackle during the team’s final drive, committing a false start penalty on a 1st-and-10 play from the Steelers’ 32-yard line. Chiefs quarterback Tyler Palko was intercepted on the following play, ending the comeback effort.
