Could the Chiefs Tyreek Hill Begin Chats About a Contract Extension?

Wide receiver Tyreek Hill and the Chiefs “could potentially re-engage in contract negotiations for an extension in the not-too-distant future” if the investigation ends with a “positive outcome for Hill” according to Terez Paylor of Yahoo Sports.

Hill met with Roger Goodell and NFL investigators for eight hours on Wednesday and numerous reports indicate the meeting went well, with Hill and his representatives presenting the NFL with a massive amount of evidence to support his testimony in which he denied any abuse of his son or fiancee.

The Chiefs are hopeful that the Commissioner will hand down his decision on discipline before the start of training camp and that the suspension will be a maximum of four games.

If the ruling does go in the Chiefs favor, Hill is expected to rejoin the team for training camp. Before the child support allegations surfaced, the two sides were discussing a longterm extension as Hill’s rookie contract expires at the end of the 2019 season. Hill certainly deserves the big bucks if you just look at his performance on the field as one of the most dynamic wideouts in the NFL.

He caught 87 passes for 1479 yards and 12 touchdowns in 16 games in 2018 and causes opposing defensive coordinators nightmares.

Unfortunately, his history of domestic violence also causes the Chiefs front office nightmares and any longterm commitment is extremely risky both from a financial and a public relations standpoint-but a risk the the team clearly thinks is worth the headaches.
