Chiefs Need More from Dorsey and Jackson

The KC Star says what all Chiefs fans already know, the team needs more from Glenn Dorsey and Tyson Jackson:

The Chiefs retain the same front seven from a defense that was one of the worst in the NFL last season. Haley indicated getting help along the defensive line and at linebacker was a priority but behind other needs. ”You can’t get everything you want or you may think you need,” Haley said.

”In the NFL, the way I do know you can have continued success is to develop the young first-, second- and third-year players you have on your team. That is mandatory. If you’re not developing the young players you have on your team, you probably have very little chance of success. That’s a big focus of ours.”

Specifically, he’s referring to ends Glenn Dorsey and Tyson Jackson. Both were selected in the top five picks of the draft but haven’t played as the Chiefs hoped. That’s particularly true for Jackson, who had just 31 tackles and no sacks as a rookie last season. ”He’s now a second-year player that has to make improvement for us to become a good team,” Haley said. ”He’s got a year under his belt, number one. I think he understands what he’s in for a little more than he did at this time last year.”
