Christmas Comes Late for the Chiefs

The title in no way means the Chiefs do not deserve the AFC West.  They earned it by being the best team in the division.

The way they played against Tennessee is proof of that.

They came out of the locker room and left no question who was going to win that game.  They were superior in every phase of the game.

Matt Cassel, once again, was absolutely spectacular.  Jamaal Charles was, well, Jamaal Charles.  Thomas Jones did his heavy lifting and Eric Berry showed his athletic skill.

The Kansas City defense showed it’s ability to get to the passer, stop one of the best running backs in the game and it’s young secondary was all over the field.

Later in the day, however, came the gift for the Chiefs.  The San Diego Chargers proved, once again, that they are complete frauds.  Whether in the playoffs or now when the division was on the line, they failed.

The got hammered by a team with nothing to play for, without it’s top two receivers and on top of it, played near flawless football.

It delayed the inevitable by one week.  I still appreciate the early celebration.

The Chiefs will host the Jets, Ravens or Steelers.  They have a legitimate chance of defeating any of those teams.

Regardless, to have evolved into the team they are now from where they were two years ago is stunning to say the least.

All  Chief fans can be proud of their team, not just for this season, but for years to come.
