Speaking for the first time since leaving for the University of Florida, former Chiefs offensive coordinator Charlie Weis said his departure from the NFL was family related: “My daughter and wife were going to be in South Bend, my son was going to graduate and go somewhere else and I was going to be in K.C. We really didn’t think that made a lot of sense.”
Weis said his daughter struggled moving from South Bend to Kansas City last year and that had him looking for a change in scenery after the 2010 season. “Sometimes when you move, you forgot about things that are really important in life,” Weis said. “She had a really rough year.”
